Volunteer Centers...Making a Difference Today and EVERY Day!
Make a Difference Day, the nation's most impactful and action-packed day of service, took place on Saturday, Oct. 26th. Make a Difference Day mobilized over 3 million volunteers across the country. Local Make a Difference Day efforts are orchestrated by Volunteer Centers, including the Volunteer Center of Brown County.
This year, the Volunteer Center focused its Make a Difference Day efforts on projects that serve the elderly and people with disabilities. Volunteer opportunities that meet other community needs will also be available.
One of the Make a Difference Day projects was "Neighborhood Volunteer Connection," which assists people who are elderly or have disabilities get their fall yard work and other chores tasks. Nearly 100 area homeowners asked for assistance with these chores. There are still some requests that have not been filled. Individuals who would like to volunteer can contact the Volunteer Center at (920) 429-9445 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Volunteer Center is also expanding its efforts in this area, and will be matching volunteers with people on a more on-going basis. "This will not only help people who need help get hands-on, practical assistance with some important chores, but it's also about decreasing their isolation," said Christine Danielson, executive director of the Volunteer Center. "It will also help people feel connected to these volunteers, their neighborhoods, and the community."

The Volunteer Center was able to increase the impact of Make a Difference Day this year because of the generous support of area sponsors.
