Wisconsin Public Service Volunteer Awards

Volunteers brighten lives, including the people and organizations they serve, and their own lives.  Honor a volunteer, or group of volunteers, by nominating them for one of the WPS Volunteer Awards!  The Volunteer Awards program is orchestrated by the Volunteer Center of Brown County in partnership with Wisconsin Public Service. The deadline for nominations is March 8, 2013.

Nominating a volunteer celebrates their service and creates greater awareness of the community organization where they give their time and talent.

The following are ways to complete and submit nomination forms:

First, download and read the nomination instructions.

You will need to complete the online application during one session, and it will probably take about 30-60 minutes.  We suggest that you use a program such as Word, and then cut and paste into the nomination form.

  • Contact the Volunteer Center for a hard copy of the nomination form at 920-429-9445 or awards@volunteergb.org.
  • Re-enter a nomination you have submitted in the last three years by contacting the Volunteer Center.

You will be asked to include a photo of your nominee, so you may want to get that ready before you start writing the nomination.  Photos will become part of a PowerPoint presentation at the Awards Breakfast.

Each nominee will be our guest at the Volunteer Awards Breakfast held on April 16th at the KI Convention Center. All nominees will have their name included in the program and will be recognized at the event.  Recipients and runners-up will be announced for the first time at the event.   Nearly 800 people attended the WPS Volunteer Awards Breakfast last year.

Award categories include:

Individual Award Categories

  • Schreiber Foods Youth Volunteer Award
  • Green Bay Packaging Volunteer in Education Award
  • Georgia-Pacific Adult Volunteer Award
  • Schneider National Volunteer Leadership Award
  • Merrill Lynch Heart of Gold Lifetime Achievement Award

Group Award Categories

  • Bellin Health Systems Small Group Award
  • Green Bay Packers Large Group Volunteer Award

The recipient in the youth category will receive a $500 personal scholarship and the runner-up will receive a $100 personal scholarship.   Recipients will receive $500 to give to the non-profit organization of their choice, and runners-up will receive $100 to give to the non-profit they designate.

Whether or not your nominee is selected as a recipient, they will be grateful that someone took the time to acknowledge their service to the community.  Completing a nomination doesn’t have to take much time, but doing it will truly brighten the life of someone who is strengthening our community through their volunteerism.

If you have any questions, please contact the Volunteer Center at 920-429-9445 or awards@volunteergb.org.
